Be A Hero from Home: The Point Commercial Laundry
As a social enterprise of The Point Arc, our commercial laundry provides on the job training and employment to individuals with intellectual and development disabilities (I/DD) in addition to providing services within the hospitality industry. Our partnerships in the hospitality linen industry have been a mainstay of our laundry operation for over twenty years and allow us to fulfill our mission.
The mission of The Point Commercial Laundry is to:
- Train and employ staff members with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Offer our partners a contingency back up for On Premise Laundries in case of mechanical or labor issues.
- Process hospitality linens within a clean environment assuring a crisp, bright white return of linens within a 24-hour turnaround.
Since thespread of COVID-19, several non-essential business customers have closed until further notice. However, we've been able to continue to pick up linen from Sisters of Charity, a wonderful facility that provides essential service for older individuals. We’ve also rewashed 200 lbs of linens and teamed up with Fabulous Furs, who have turned them into wearable masks. These masks will be donated from Fabulous Furs to first responders and medical staff to continue the fight against COVID-19.
With the low work demand and the seriousness of the COVID-19, in order to continue our mission, The Point Commercial Laundry is asking you to be A HERO FROM HOME!
Be a Hero from Home, a new monthly giving program that allows you to donate from a distance while staying close to your community. Donations will help us to continue our support of people and families now and in the future.
If you'd like to help, please join us in being a HERO FROM HOME.
