It was 30 years ago – and Bob Merz talks as if it was yesterday. “I was in shock,” said Merz, who is an Accounts Payable Specialist at The Point/Arc. “It was the day after he was born – that’s when we found out.”

The stands erupted in cheers every time the Covington Catholic Colonels scored at Tuesday’s game against Highlands High School. But the biggest cheers were reserved for a young man who is not even on the basketball team.
