Mission & Who We Serve

Mission

To help individuals with intellectual and developmental differences reach their highest  potential educationally, residentially, socially and vocationally.

Vision

To be the premier provider of programs and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental differences.

What WE Do

At The Point Arc we continually seek new and innovative educational, residential, social, and vocational opportunities that are not currently available in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. We only duplicate efforts if capacities are maximized and warrant more.

We Educate

We offer a range of unique educational classes and workshops for teens, adults and their families. Our Zembrodt Education Center provides us the perfect venue and space for expansion.

We Provide Homes

We provide hope to parents and families whose number one concern is “What’s going to happen to our son or daughter when we no longer can provide care?” We don’t just provide a house, we provide lifelong care in homes.

We Fill Social Voids

We offer opportunities for socialization through supervised weekly activities, seasonal sports, bi-monthly dances, out-of-state vacations and more.

We Train & Employ

Not only can we train and place individuals in community businesses through our Supported Employment Program, but we have established four social enterprises: Point Apparel, Point Commercial Laundry, Point Perk Coffeehouse and ZELS Pretzels. We strive to maintain a minimum of 1/3 of our part and full-time employees are individuals with I/DD.

Message from our Founder, Judi Gerding

On June 6th, 1972 three parent groups united to form an advocacy group (NKAR) to assist our loved ones diagnosed with having an intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD). Renamed The Point Arc in 1991, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary on June 6th, 2022. Thanks to an army of dedicated parents, volunteers, donors, and staff we have emerged as a leader of inclusive, innovative, and around-the-clock programs for children through adulthood with mild and profound challenges. With the continual support of our community, The Point Arc is positioned for substantial growth for the next fifty years.
